Shane Pym Joins Event-Photos

A little about myself and my photographic journey.

I am married to Ellen and we are based in the beautiful Dorset countryside just outside Bridport close to the Jurassic coast.

My passion for photography began as a teenager with a Russian Zenith E camera photographing my mother’s horses and the activities and events around the riding stables where I grew up, then locking everyone out of the bathroom while I developed and printed the results! Ahhh halcyon days!!

Then life and the need for income takes over firstly as a road haulier which led to working in Africa delivering aid for UNHCR, and then latterly in the pub trade, where as Landlord of the Bottle Inn, Marshwood I achieved what is possibly my greatest claim to fame, I founded the World Stinging Nettle Eating Champion ships (Seriously its true! The festival ended up turning into two days of organized music, madness and mayhem! So I can also appreciate the effort that a good event takes to prepare.

Indeed the only two things that have probably remained constant in my life are my love of people and photography, I am largely self-taught until when in 2009 having purchased my first Nikon DSLR I embarked upon an open university course in digital imaging, shortly after I attended an Equestrian training day with Event-photos and was hooked!

Since then I have been freelancing for various event photographers undertaking training in many photographic disciplines from weddings to moto-cross, Black tie to Black belt until this year when we decided to take the plunge and, working as a husband and wife team, Ellen and I signed up with Ian at Event-photos.

Passionate about photography we are happy to undertake all events providing on-site printing at outdoor events from our purpose built event van or indoors at our pop up studio.
