Paul Saban Joins Event-Photos

Event-Photos is very pleased to announce that Paul Saban of Ikonixx Event Photography has joined up with Event-Photos, the UK's leading event photography service provider.

We were attracted to Paul as soon as we saw his set-up, his presentation, professionalism and attention to detail is second to none and fits perfectly with our ethos, conversations followed and a deal was done very quickly, well as quick as anything can be done with Paul once you mention photography!!

I think it's fair to say Paul is a 'Photographic-Addict' he talks, walks and sleeps through a viewfinder!

I asked Paul to share a bit about his life with me, I should have got a coffee or two!

Paul replied:

My father, another itinerant photographer gave me my first camera, a Kodak 220 when I was just 12 years old. He later regretted buying a Nikkormat because I had it all the time!

We used to process our own photographs in the cupboard under the stairs and later in the bathroom, much to my mother’s disgust.

The bug never left me and 50 years on I am still with Nikon, having dragged my gear through the Stately homes of England, to the jungles of India and Central America. I have worked in most disciplines but I love shooting people and animals. I shot my first wedding when I was 23 years old and still enjoy shooting weddings now.

A few years ago I was in the San Blas islands shooting the Kuna indigenous Indians. I was sleeping on a floating raft tied to the beach at night, with a guard so that I didn’t molest the women! An exhibition including my photos taken there ran in the U.S. Museum of Humanities for 9 months.

I started shooting events seriously about 9 years ago with the fast moving rodeos of Central America although the dust killed my D70 Camera. My largest event and commission was to shoot the ‘Parade of 1000 Polleras’ in Panama City for the Tourist board. This involved over 1000 women in their fabulous traditional Spanish dresses dancing through the main street of Panama City.

I am passionate about photography, love talking to people and have earned title given to me in Panama, "El Fotografo loco" (‘The crazy photographer’)!

The picture is in the mind – the camera is the tool that helps it to materialize. I like to make it happen and I find that photographing events is equally as fulfilling as anything else I have done.

If you can hold it I can shoot it!
